Biosolids are the end product of the waste water treatment process, and when treated correctly, can be used beneficially as fertiliser and soil conditioner.
The benefits of biosolids reuse include:
- Improvement in crop production
- Better soil structure
- Increased water infiltration and retention in the soil
- Rehabilitation of land affected by human interaction
- Provides economic incentives
- Reduces landfill contributions
As biosolids are derived from wastewater sludge which contains organic materials, strict guidelines must be followed to ensure the product is treated effectively to remove any pathogens before application. Loop Organics ensures all of its operations abides with the relevant state biosolids guidelines. This includes treatment, transport and application requirements which must be executed and reported regularly.
The Loop Organics expertise staff have a significant understanding of the regulating guidelines and have a built up a strong management system to comply with all requirements. We have put in place policies and procedures to ensure all actions and responses are within the relevant guidelines. These include:
- Regular site assessments
- Environmental assessments
- Regular soil sampling
- Biosolids sampling
- Community consultations
- LGA consultations
- EPA consultations
- Attendance of industry conferences
- Internal auditing
Loop Organics is certified under Australian and International standards for environmental management systems, occupational health and safety management systems and quality management systems (ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015).
Loop Organics staff are tertiary qualified in environmental science and engineering ensuring all operations are completed in a responsible and professional manner.
